Ethan doing his best Alfalfa imitation
This week was just…fun. Early this week we had lots of snow. Alix requested that Ethan do some snow angels, so I tried to indulge her, but…alas….Ethan IS a southern boy at heart (thank goodness) and was none too pleased about being laid down in the snow.

I am NOT doing snow angels!!!
Because of the snow, our usual Monday and Tuesday activities were cancelled (we usually attend some events at the public library) but it was ok because we just enjoyed playing at home. Wednesday we went to a playdate with some other younger babies in my playgroup. Everyone seemed astounded by Ethan’s walking and standing prowess.

What? Did I fart?
Thursday we went to the mall with some moms from my playgroup (who have slightly older babies, but all boys) and we enjoyed shopping and chatting as we walked around the mall. Harrison, James, Fletcher and Ethan liked shrieking and napping as we walked around. Friday we went to another playdate….we are apparently becoming quite the social butterflies! We had so much fun though! Today we had a couple over whose daughter, Jenna, is almost the same age as Ethan. They played while James and Bryan watched basketball. It was a great time!

Our tank finished cycling on Wednesday (finally!!) so James sent me out to buy fish before our friends arrived today. You probably know that James and I are pretty passionate about our fish tank. We have a 75 gallon tank, in Atlanta it was a mixed African Cichlid tank. When we moved we sold or gave away all our fish since the move probably would have killed most of them anyway.
We finally got the tank re-set up and cycled it (which took about 4-5 weeks.) We decided to focus on the the species Frontosa. We had one in our old tank and really loved the species. We found someone nearby who breeds mpimbwe frontosas, which are known for their blue coloring. We pick up 6 of those tomorrow, but today I went to the fish store and got tankmates for the frontosas, mostly other species from Lake Tanganyika in Africa. Here are some pics of our new fish….they are pretty cool, especially for freshwater fish!

You can really see their coloring here, they are about 1″ right now but grow to be over a foot long!
