Having fun outside Wednesday, Apr 29 2009

Ahh, the weather has been so nice recently so we’ve been spending lots of time outside.  One of our favorite things to do is go play on our porch and in the yard when James gets home.  Ethan is completely fascinated by any sort of ball: soccer balls, baseballs, footballs, tiny little tennis balls which are really cat toys….if it rolls then he wants it!  James will kick around a soccer ball or throw a baseball up and down and Ethan just dies laughing.  Its so fun to make them laugh!

The nice weather has also meant that its time to break out Ethan’s new spring wardrobe.  I switched his clothes over this week and found so many cute outfits that I had forgotten that I had.  This one is a favorite – we actually bought him the same outfit to wear home from the hospital but also received this one as a gift in a larger size.  I’m so glad he’s big enough to wear it.  You can’t see, but it has (guess…) frogs on it :)

Red Radio Flyer Wagon Wednesday, Apr 29 2009

Granny Gay comes to the rescue again.  We have the cutest little red Radio Flyer wagon and Ethan LOVES to push it around the house.  Its so adorable.  Watching him, James and I can barely believe that something that small can push it around like a real child!  He does the loop from our living room, down the hall, through the kitchen, through the dining room, back to the living room.  He can’t make it change direction yet so he pushes it until he hits a wall and then calls out for one of us to move it for him.  Everyone keeps telling us that he will be walking soon and we don’t doubt it!  In the meantime, both of our backs are happy that he has another way of walking besides holding onto us.  Here is a video of him doing the loop around our house.

Rutgers Day Tuesday, Apr 28 2009

This past Saturday we went to “Rutgers Day” which is basically this huge festival over all the Rutger’s campuses.  There were tons of different things to see and do:  from animal exhibitions, music concerts, demonstrations by various academic departments, all kinds of things.  We met up with a few of my new friends in my mom’s group and their kids and one other husband.  It was a lot of fun but, surprisingly BLAZING hot outside….90+ degrees!!  I doubt the people who planned that event ever though it would be above 90 in late April!

We got there a little late because Ethan took a marathon nap, so we ended up finding a shady area and had a picnic and watched Fletcher and Harrison run around and Ethan try to keep up.  It was a lot of fun!

Bathtime! Tuesday, Apr 28 2009

Babies are just so cute in the bath.  We recently had to move Ethan into a larger baby tub because he was just squirming so much in his old one.  He likes his new ducky tub but now that he can pull up onto things he does so at every opportunity, including in the tub.

Hi mom, this is fun but I want to stand up!

Ethan’s happy excited face Monday, Apr 27 2009

So these days when Ethan is really happy or excited he does this funny little snorting thing that is really cute.  I’m pretty sure his cousin Claire did the same thing at his age.  Here is a quick video of it :)

A night of having 2 babies under 2 years old…. Friday, Apr 24 2009

So last Saturday night we got to watch Harrison, the 16 month old son of some of our new friends up here, Colleen and Don.  Harrison is such a sweet little boy!  We had a blast playing in our yard and running around.  Harrison walks, talks and is just so capable…its amazing what a difference 7 months makes!  James especially had a lot of fun throwing and kicking balls around with Harrison.  Ethan was just FASCINATED by him and followed him wherever he went, as fast as he could keep up with me walking him around.  It was a fun afternoon and morning.  Definitely a different game when each of us has to watch one child, but I think we managed pretty well…and got some practice for whenever we decide to have another one ;)

If soccer doesn’t work out, I think he’ll be a great dancer! Friday, Apr 24 2009

I have to say, at almost 9 months Ethan has some pretty sweet dance moves already….he must have learned them from his daddy.  Ladies….WATCH OUT!

More fun with daddy Friday, Apr 24 2009

This is one of Ethan’s favorite games right now.  Its kind of a combination of hide and seek and peek-a-boo….except we are doing all the hiding.  He LOVES it….and I LOVE posting hilarious videos of James being a fun dad :)

Soccer training continues Friday, Apr 24 2009

I’m seriously starting to think Ethan has a special knack for soccer….its either that or its because James has been indoctrinating him pretty much since birth, and I think its working.

Playdate in Hoboken with my Nesties Friday, Apr 24 2009

Last week Ethan and I drove up to Hoboken for a playdate with my “Nestie” friends – women from one of the message boards I have frequented for years.   All of our babies were around the same age: 6-9 months old.  After lunch at Christine and Evie’s we walked to a nearby park with a beautiful view of Manhatten.  It was a gorgeous day, low 70s and a little windy.  Ethan was the lone boy there, but he enjoyed being surrounded by such beautiful women….so much that he promptly fell asleep for a long nap before we even left the park.  Here are some pics from the day.
