“Mamamamamama” and “ada” Monday, Jun 29 2009

That’s who we are now…..we have names.  Ethan calls us mama and ada.  :) Sweeter words have never been spoken.  I’ll upload a video soon once we catch a good one.

Its funny though bc in addition to referring to me, “mamamamama” also means “I want that” “Feed me” “pay attention to me.”  Who knew it would be so versatile?

Guess who can feed himself!! Monday, Jun 29 2009

For many babies this comes naturally….but Ethan has never really put things in his mouth too much, so he didn’t start doing this on his own.  We’ve been trying to teach him as long as he’s been eating finger foods.  Well yesterday morning it finally clicked.  I had been giving him Cheerios, but it took switching to something bigger than he could hold and bite with his new teeth – graham crackers.  Here is Ethan feeding himself his first meal!

I don’t know why, but this picture just cracks me up Sunday, Jun 28 2009

Happy Father’s Day!!! Sunday, Jun 28 2009

Happy Father’s Day!  This was James’ first Father’s day and he woke up to yummy Huevos Rancheros (thanks Maria) and a wonderful handmade Tshirt and card from Ethan.  Unfortunately the weather wasn’t fabulous so we couldn’t spend the time outside as I had hoped, but I think it was a nice time.

Still learning to walk Sunday, Jun 28 2009

Since Ethan started walking around on our hands at 6 months we were sure he would be an early walker.   We were wrong about that, he just seems to love walking around with us.  That’s ok, he’s cute :)  Here are James and Ethan walking around our neighborhood one afternoon after work.

First trip to the “shore” Sunday, Jun 28 2009

I put “shore” in quotation marks because no matter how long I live in New Jersey I don’t think I will ever be able to say this in seriousness.  Its the beach people.  That said, there seem to be big boardwalks and the whole beach/shore experience is very different from what I grew up with, so on that end I can distinguish what I consider the “beach” with what is called the “shore” up here, but still, its weird.

Anyway, last week we also went to Point Pleasant.  My friend, Darya, and I carpooled over there, and met up with a few other women from our mom’s group.  We had fun walking up and down the boardwalk.  We stopped at an amusement park with some rides and stuff, but it was kind of a ripoff bc they wanted to charge for the babies to ride too.  But, we had fun.  Here are some pics from the day.

A day at a huge sandbox in Princeton Sunday, Jun 28 2009

Pushing around his truck at the sandbox

Pushing around his truck at the sandbox

So last week Ethan and I went to this very pretty park in Princeton, about 25 minutes from us.  It had this HUGE sandbox where all the kids could play.  About 10 women and babies from my group were there along with other people as well.  It was really neat, there were already lots of toys there for the kids to play with.  Ethan promptly found a truck and pushed it all over the sandbox.  He also tried eating some sand, but wasn’t crazy about the taste, so thankfully he stopped.  It was really a wonderful day – he got to explore around outside and learn about sand and play with his friends and I got to enjoy the nice weather and talk with my other mom friends.  Here are some cute pics from the day.

Lots of teeth! Sunday, Jun 28 2009

I decided to take a break from my busy scrapblogging schedule to do a few blog updates since I know that at least a few of you (ahem, Gay) have been clamoring for them ;)

So let’s see….I think when we left Atlanta Ethan had 3 teeth.  Well as soon as we got home #4 popped through following quickly by #5.  So he has 2 on the bottom and 3 on top.  #6 is coming in and will be here in a couple of weeks I suspect.

Here are some pics of Ethan’s no-longer-toothless grin.

Professional Mother’s Day pictures Thursday, Jun 25 2009

OK, here is a quick post to tide you over until I can upload some new stuff.  One of my new friends here in NJ is a photographer and she takes the most STUNNING shots.  She took some of Ethan and I right before Mother’s day.  Her website is www.viviphotography.net.  I could go on and on about how gorgeous her pics are, but I think I’ll just let them speak for themselves.
