Well, since you are here you probably know all about us, but just in case you wanted a refresher, here’s a bit about us.

Amy was born and raised in the land of jazz, crawfish, and soul – that’s right ya’ll – Nawlins.  After 12 idyllic years her parents decided they didn’t want to raise a teenager in arguably the party capital of the world (probably a smart idea….) and moved the family to Atlanta, where Amy finished high school at Westminster.

Meanwhile, James was growing up in the land of alligators, old people, and golf courses – that’s right ya’ll – Miami, FL.  He moved to Atlanta when he was 9, and continued onto his high school years at Riverwood, which was notably about 1 mile from Amy’s house, and drove past her house every day.

You would think our paths would have crossed earlier than they did, since we had many of the same friends (Amy’s 10th grade boyfriend broke up with her to hang out with “the James Rossi”… no really, we kid you not.)  Additionally James’ best friend was in Amy’s homeroom in 8th grade.  Yet, the fates waited until 1999 before they threw us together, at a place neither of us wanted to end up – that’s right, community college.  Turns out it was good for something :)

It was in Philosophy class that Amy and James finally met – not quite the “eyes locked across a crowded room” but needless to say there was an attraction from the start.  James wracked up his courage and asked Amy out in front of a table of 8 other girls.  She willingly gave her phone number and was happy and surprised when he called a few days later.  “Wait, Rossi??? THE James Rossi??  Did you know a guy named Kent?”  We had a few fun dates, but alas Amy had a “boyfriend” but they were on a break.  James didn’t seem to mind, and we hung out until said boyfriend returned from out of the country.

It might have ended there if Amy’s best friend Alix hadn’t transferred to Ga Tech at the same time James was going back.  Being the nice guy that he is, he kindly offered to help Alix learn about her new college (yeah, he tried to kiss her too, but I’ll forgive him that one, she gave him the cheek anyway!) Fate stepped in again and Alix met the love of her life (and husband) at James’ frat, Delta Tau Delta (hereby referred to as Delt.)

During this time was what I like to call the “wandering years.”  Yes you remember the stories….”Hey, guess what, I’m moving to Europe to be an au pair!!”  or “Guess what, I joined the military!!!”  Yeah….those were fun times.  I’m sure I kept you all wildly entertained :)   Yet, whenever I was back in Atlanta, I would go see Alix, and I would see James too.  I think its safe to say we kept tabs on each other over those 3 years, but whenever I was single, he had a girlfriend, and vice versa……. until… one day…..

DUN DUN DUN!!!!!

Amy emails James from Florida – she is coming home from the Coast Guard.  She is single.  So is he.  She will be home in a week.  James emails back “can’t wait to see you – you should come over and play!!”  December 27, 2000 – Amy and James go on their 2nd 1st date – Kampai in Sandy Springs.  December 31 – New Year’s Eve.  They show up as a couple at a friend’s New Year’s party, raising more than a few eyebrows amongst our friends… and the rest is history.  We’ve been together ever since!

We fell in love to a techno beat.  Would there be an Amy and James if there was no techno? Hard to say, but it was certainly a defining point of our relationship.

We’ve also taken some fun trips together – here’s a pic from our trip to Prague in 2003.  We also went to Amsterdam and to the Miami Winter Music Conference during that trip.

After three and a half years of dating, James finally decided that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Amy, and popped the question on the beach under the stars in Miami during Winter Music Conference 2004.

As you can see, I happily accepted!  On October 30, 2004 Amy and James became Mr. and Mrs. in a beautiful ceremony at Wolf Mountain Vineyards in Dahlonega, about 1 hour north of Atlanta at the base of the Appalachian Mountains.

Lots more wedding pics if you want to see them are here.

And so – our life together began – James working as a Chemist, Amy in HR.  We bought a townhome in Sandy Springs in 2005 and settled down with our 3 cats for a pretty normal existence.  We’ve had some fun though – for our one year anniversary we went to Puerta Vallarta which was a blast!

And summer 2007 we, along with 16 of our friends, went to Madagascar which was a true adventure!!

Lots more about our Madagascar trip here

The trip to Madagascar marked our “last hurrah” together before we decided that we were ready to start a family.  And to much joy we found out that we were pregnant in December and expecting a baby in August!  Simultaneously, James was offered a big promotion that came with a big price, moving to New Jersey.  Hence – this blog.  Check out other pages for more fun stuff about the baby and this blog to keep in touch with our lives once we have moved away.
